DE ANGEL (Barcelona, 1966). "Woman with candles", 2007. Oil on canvas. Certificate of authenticity is attached. Measurements: 92 x 73 cm. From an early age, DeAngel was self-taught in the world of painting, which gives his Artwork a personal character. He made professional forays into photography, illustration, graphic design and film projects, ending up dedicating himself exclusively to painting, strolling through styles such as naturalism and hyperrealism. He exhibits at the main art conventions: New York, Miami, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Glasgow, Strasbourg... He has been awarded several prizes for drawing and painting, the last being an honorable mention at Figurativas 13. His Artwork forms part of private collections, companies (Lotus-IBM collection) and institutions (MEAM, European Museum of Modern Art in Barcelona). He is currently experimenting with practices of oriental perception and meditation, to relate the theme-shape-color of the artistic Artwork, with the body-mind-spirit of the human being. Recent exhibitions: MEAM " Figurativas 13", Barcelona; Angel Cantero Gallery, Leon; Artelibre Gallery "Something more than realism VII", Zaragoza; AAF Affordable Art Fair, New York; Northern Art Show, Sollentuna, Sweden; Line Art Fair, Ghent; Chateau des Reaux, South Loire; Berger Gallery, Barcelona; AAF, Paris; The Affordable Art Fair, Amsterdam; CCCB Barcelona; Holland Art Fair, Den Haag, Holland, among many others. DeAngel is an artist whose technical mastery allows him to navigate between hyperreal figuration, often combining it with surreal settings or with abstract elements. It reflects on the imaginary of male desire while delving into the condition of contemporary women, their fears, insecurities and their strength.
