Jean-Christian Knaff, a self-taught illustrator, founded his studio in Montreal in 1982, obtained a degree in Canadian citizenship and education in communication arts at the University of Quebec, in Montreal. In 1984 he moved to London, United Kingdom, where he studied illustration in the fourth year at Kingston University.
In 1995, he took up the position of head of illustration at the Axe Sud design school in Marseille, France.
Mother Goose Award finalist (UK), Best British Animation finalist (Bristol), Unicef ??Award in Annecy, France, Gold Medal (New York International Animation Film Festival). Best Design Education Award, OCADU Toronto, nominated for Nicktoon International Animation Film Festival for ‘The Wild, Wild, Circus Company’ (Nelvana/Corus).
Currently living and working between Valencia and Toronto. He is an associate professor of illustration at OCAD University.
His paintings have been exhibited in numerous international galleries.
