Autor: Josep Ballús Brugete. Título: Autoretrato. Descripción: oleo sobre lienzo, firmado en ángulo inferior derecho. Ballús Bruguete, Josep (Barcelona 1914). Estudià a l’Escola d’Arts i Oficis de Barcelona, i més tard ingressà a l’Escola Superior de Belles Arts de Barcelona, on obtengué el títol de professor de dibuix. Entre els anys 1955 i 1960 resideix al Canadà, on alterna la pintura amb la feina de repartidor de premsa. Quan torna d’Amèrica s’instal·la al Pallars, on viurà quatre anys. L’any 1964 descobreix Eivissa i d’aleshores ençà viu a Sant Antoni de Portmany. La seua pintura ha evolucionat des d’un impressionisme inicial cap a l’expressionisme; a partir dels anys 70, farà una gran producció a base de la tècnica del puntejat a la tinta xinesa. Ha fet nombroses exposicions monogràfiques i ha participat en altres de col·lectives; cal esmentar-ne les de l’Hospitalet de Llobregat (Exposició de Belles Arts 1949), Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid (1953), Hillerest Country Club “The Family Club” Edenonton (Canadà, 1956), Exhibit of Original Works of Art de Montreal (Canadà, 1957), Galeria d’Art de Taur (Tolosa, 1962), Caixa de Pensions, de la Pobla de Segur (1962), Caixa de Pensions, de Sort (1963), Sala Minòrica de Palma de Mallorca (1964), Biblioteca de Sant Boi de Llobregat (1967-68), Galeria Sa Carrossa, d’Eivissa (1969), Exposició de Premis Ciutat de Palma (1975), Casa Íbero-Americana d’Hamburg (Alemanya, 1975), Exposició d’Olis a Heiden (Alemanya, 1975), Galeria Art Fama (Palma, 1976), Caixa de Pensions d’Eivissa (1976), Cercle de Belles Arts de Palma (1976-77), a Tienen (Bèlgica, 1976), Galeria Internacional d’Eivissa (1979), Caixa de Pensions de Sort (1979-80), Sala Cézanne, dibuixos en blanc i negre al macropuntillisme (1981), Galeria es Llimoner (Sant Antoni,1981), Art i Marcs d’Eivissa (1982), Galeria es Llimoner (1982) i Cercle de Belles Arts de Palma (1982).
