Josep Guinovart "Sense Title" (1976)

Attention! Start session for bidding for this lot.

Oil on canvas. excellent condition JOSEP GUINOVART (Barcelona, 1927 - 2007) Painter and engraver, protagonist of the Catalan pictorial avant-garde of the second half of the 20th century, together with Antoni Tàpies, Joan Josep Tharrats and Joan Hernández Pijoan. Starting from a first figurative stage, Guinovart's Artwork derives from a large-format social theme. In 1957, influenced by the abstract current and informalism, a new three-dimensional perspective emerged within his creative aesthetics with the integration of objects and material treatment. His Artworks, plastic expressions of fertile chromaticism, clinging to the countryside and the earth, generate a poetic dialogue between suggestive signs and gestures. In 1982 he won the National Prize for Plastic Arts and in 1990 he was awarded by the Department of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya.

  • Lídia Vives: "Sign there" (2024)

The photograph "Sign there", taken by Lídia Vives in 2024, is part of the photographic series "The Signature", which is still ongoing. In this series, the artist presents various self-portraits in which she covers her body with symbolism that narrates different stages of her life as a diary, using scanned or digitally created drawings. In the case of "Sign there", we are introduced to childhood. After a study of the drawings that the artist made during her childhood, those that best represented that time were selected. These drawings were scanned and later incorporated into the Artwork through digital editing. The use of a technique with a chaotic composition and strident colors is not accidental. In this way, we try to represent as much as possible the experimentation and randomness that children usually have in their drawings. This is a limited edition (1/7 print run) measuring 43cm x 63cm, with a white margin approximately 2cm thick where the hand-made numbering and signature are included. For printing, Hahnemühle Bamboo Natural Line paper was used, a matte type paper that enhances the sketch concept that the Artwork seeks to represent. The Artwork is in perfect condition and will be sent rolled in a tube along with the certificate of authenticity, a thank you card and cotton gloves for handling.
