PORT OF NICE It is one of the centers of the tourist Côte d'Azur, next to the Mediterranean Sea, close to the border with Italy, located in the foothills of the Alps, east of the Var River. Nice is located 960 km from Paris. It is the largest city on the Côte d'Azur, extending from Hyères to Menton. Its spas and beaches attract high-income tourism, just as its walks, museums, nightlife and magnificent views of the sea constitute an attraction for tourism. Nice, the historical capital of the County of Nice, was linked to Italy until its French invasion and annexation in 1860. A part of its population preserves the Nice dialect, a variety of the Ligurian language strongly influenced by the Occitan language after 1860.
