URIGINAL, URI (Barcelona). "Kiss in Marseille”. Pintura en aerosol o spray sobre lienzo. Forma parte de la serie “War and peace”. Medidas: 100 x 81 cm. Como otros hackeadores de la cultura oficial convertidos en leyendas urbanas por sus personalidades esquivas, Uriginal también se burla de los conatos de galerías y revistas por obtener sus datos biográficos. Se presenta a sí mismo como “hijo de un torero del Alt Ampurdà y una florista de las Ramblas de Barcelona. Padre del negro de Banyoles, y aficionado a la cocina con soplete”. Está representado por la galería N2 de Barcelona. En su uso irónico de iconos de la cultura popular, mezclados con referencias a obras maestras de la historia del arte, junto al repaso cáustico de crónicas políticas coetáneas, Uri despierta nuestro sentido crítico con humor irreverente y un lenguaje colorista inconfundible. En los retratos de figuras públicas los rostros parecen hechos con retales de papel pintado en diversidad de patrones y tintes, enfatizando el aspecto circense de esos personajes. En sus versiones de pinturas emblemáticas, los referentes de Uriginal van desde Velázquez a Dalí. En “Guerra y paz”, reinterpreta imágenes icónicas de besos célebres que ya forman parte de nuestra cultura audiovisual, besos envueltos de controversia relacionada con la guerra fría (“El beso de Times Square”), el pacto de Berlín oriental (Erich Honecker besando al líder soviético Leonid Brezhnev), Vietnam (Yoko Ono y John Lenon) y las reivindicaciones de las minorías sexuales (dos mujeres besándose ante un grupo de mujeres que defendían los valores de la familia nuclear).

Measurements with frame 46x33 cm. Artwork in good condition with signs of age. He trained in Barcelona, at Llotja (1952-57), and in Paris. Initially he alternated painting with work as a graphic artist, but during the seventies he abandoned this second activity. From then on he made his Artwork known, clearly affiliated with Impressionism. He died suddenly after being made a member of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, in Paris.
