The history of Catalan Modernist architecture is built upon the name of Antoni Gaudí, the genius inseparable from the city of Barcelona, whose Artwork and essence have transcended borders. ARTIKA presents Gaudí Up Close, a project that began to take shape more than a decade ago, with the aim of revealing some of the artist's most insightful facets, which, despite their historical significance, remained unknown to the public. "The Artwork is exhibited in a wooden sculpture-case featuring a handcrafted reproduction of one of the emblematic chimneys of Casa Milà (La Pedrera), known as the warriors." The case houses two volumes and an architect's portfolio that offer a unique and detailed view of the artist. A bilingual artist's book in Spanish and English, hand-numbered and limited to 4,998 copies, compiles previously unpublished material on the architect and reveals his most insightful facets—a legacy of extraordinary value. The Art Book allows you to admire 48 of Gaudí's drawings in their original size, revealing the most evocative, rich, surprising, and beautiful details of his universe. The Study Book offers a selection of previously unpublished articles on Gaudí by experts: architect and director of the Gaudí Chair, Juan José Lahuerta; architects Jordi Faulí and Chiara Curti; art historian Joan Aicart; and Dr. Mireia Freixa, who provides a detailed study of the drawings. The architect's portfolio reveals reproductions of three plans, with their conservation folds, of his major projects: a beautiful design for a pier (1876); the original project for the façade of Casa Milà (1906); and the first plan for the demonstration of the Sagrada Familia's visibility (1916).
