**Aloha Bauwens Hoessen, *Regret*, 2023.** Original and unique acrylic on stretched canvas, 90 × 60 cm, in perfect condition. The Artwork is signed on the side and is presented unframed.
The composition begins with a soft yellow background upon which different pictorial elements are arranged, complementing each other. A heart and hands of primitive appearance, inspired by cave-like forms, stand out, rendered with an expressive language and pure colors. Around these elements appear abstract forms in cooler tones that visually connect the main figures. The word *Regret*, integrated into the painting itself in the upper right area, also functions as a plastic element within the composition.
The Artwork explores regret as an internal and cyclical process: the tension between acting impulsively and the fear of regret, versus the possibility of not acting and ultimately regretting it anyway. The heart represents the emotional and impulsive dimension, while the hands evoke that which holds us back and the constant awareness that every decision involves risk. The result presents a dialogue between the sentimental and the rational, which can lead, from different paths, to the same feeling.
The composition does not adhere to a predetermined proportional system, but rather seeks visual balance through the relationship between shapes, colors, and pictorial weights.
