He was one of the main exponents of Informalism on a global scale and is considered one of the most outstanding Spanish artists of the 20th century. The Artwork of this illustrious Catalan is exhibited at the study and conservation center at the Antoni Tàpies Museum in Barcelona. Self-taught, Tàpies developed his own style within the avant-garde art of the 20th century, in which tradition and innovation were combined within an abstract style, but full of symbolism, giving great importance to the material substrate of the Artwork. It is worth highlighting the marked spiritual sense given by the artist to his Artwork, where the material support transcends its state by signifying a profound analysis of the human condition. Tàpies' Artwork has had great value on both the national and international scene. It has been exhibited in the most prestigious museums in the world. Throughout his career he has received numerous awards and distinctions such as entry into the academies of fine arts in Berlin, Vienna and Stockholm; Ciutat de Barcelona prize, 1979; doctorate from the Royal College of Art, London, 1981; Wolf prize, 1982; Rembrandt prize, 1983; Gold Medal of the Generalitat, 1983; Grand Prize for Painting in France, 1984; Doctor honoris causa from the universities of Barcelona and the Balearic Islands, 1988. 53x30 cm Signed on the back in pencil Certificate of authenticity MOMOKO I/XXX (Paris, 1965) Photographer Specialized in images, MOMOKO is an artistic photographer. His work is characterized by the pictorial atmosphere, the handling of color, framing, light, speed and abstract character, are his greatest interest when creating an image not only with the technical effect, but also the anecdotal, will it be or will it not be. He is interested in people interpreting his photograph, creating doubt and mystery. This makes the viewer feel compelled to look at it for a while and delve into the textures. The idea is to make it disturbing, to make it seem as if the print will start to move at any moment, creating figures that only the first-person viewer will be able to identify. He makes it clear that it is not only a photograph, but that it can be interpreted as a frame from his imagination. He likes to use mixed, simple, direct and manual techniques, no digital process. He uses baryta paper, mainly used in black and white photography. Virgili also adapted it to color, giving it his personal touch, eliminating the polyethylene from normal paper and using a barium sulfate coating (barite), which gives the coating a natural shine. He is interested in people interpreting his photography, creating doubt and mystery. This compels the viewer to look at it for a while and delve into the textures. The idea is to make it unsettling, to make it seem as if the print will start moving at any moment, creating figures that only the first-person viewer will be able to identify.
