Black Series Antoni Tàpies, a unique edition limited to 998 copies in Arabic numerals and 298 in Roman numerals, year 2017. In 1967, Antoni Tàpies produced a series of 15 drawings that reveal the most characteristic features of his Artwork. The series is produced on brown paper, which highlights the distinctive black color of the series. The Black Series reproduces 15 prints of one of the most representative Artworks by one of the most prominent artists of the 20th century. The prints are printed on high-quality handmade paper, specially produced for this Artwork. Once printed, each print is die-cut and presented in a diptych that, together with the rest, forms the art book of this exclusive edition. All the prints are numbered on the back and bear the seal of the Antoni Tàpies Foundation. A folder signed by the artist contains all the diptychs, including the hand-numbered notarial certificate for the Artwork. The Artwork is accompanied by a bilingual study book in Spanish and English, containing abundant graphic material, reproduced in high quality, on the artist's life and Artwork. It also features previously unpublished texts by Antoni Tàpies Barba, the artist's son, gallery owner, and writer; Xavier Antich, president of the board of trustees of the Antoni Tàpies Foundation; and art historian Pedro de Llano, who comments on each print individually. All the elements are presented in a large-format case, handcrafted from wood and burlap. The cover features a detail from one of the prints and the artist's signature screen-printed in black ink. The case's unique design allows the Artwork to be enjoyed and the drawings from Sèrie Negre to be displayed in a variety of ways.
