ARRAUT "PYRENEES LANDSCAPE" (1850)
Pere Màrtir ARRAUT.
(Puigcerdà, c. 1818 - Barcelona, c. 1875).
Oil on canvas, 120x100 cm.
Artwork in good condition with signs of age.
This is a river landscape, with certain variations, taken from the same location and in frontal perspective, as artists of this period usually work, executed in a descriptive line, rich in all kinds of details.
The work of P. M. Arraut, an artist of the romantic orbit, originally from Puigcerdà, having worked abundantly, exhibited, often, in Barcelona, (Association of Friends of the Fine Arts, 1848, 1855, 1859, Academy of Arts 1870, 1873, 1874), and left work everywhere, (in public collections, M. Diocesà, Barcelona; as private collections), at this time, unfortunately, is not as well known as that of other contemporary artists, such as P. Clavé, C. Lorenzat, F. Lorenzale, F. and the first professor of this specialty at the Academy.
