Nieves is a Venezuelan born in October 1961. In the 1980s, new inspiration emerged from the vegetation that adorns the fields, valleys and forests. In the year 2000 he completely became an “artist” by profession, since what began as a pleasure is now his passion one hundred percent of his time. Individual and group exhibitions were already part of his commitments and little by little his time was increasingly dedicated to art. Starting in 2000, a change in his motivations mixed with his tendencies and these landscapes, avilas, forests and valleys, suddenly suffered a “blow” from the artistic movement when the first figure of Eqqus appeared. These floating horses, initially of ocher and earthy colors, with long and thin limbs, occupied the artist's entire life. From oil-dyed canvases to sculptures in various alloys such as bronze, they are the result of a dedication of body and soul to this still antiquated equine expression. For years, these horses have captured the hearts of those who see horses as a symbol of elegance, height, loyalty and virility; They also gave Bernardo the opportunity to touch the sensibilities of an entire universe of art lovers. His representations of the horse “Eqqus” attest to the fascination that this artist feels for these animals. EQQUS, the horse, the most represented animal in the thematic repertoire of art, thus becomes a vehicle of artistic expression. The artist exposes them here under his own convictions: elegant, haughty, beautiful. He managed to differentiate himself by his harmoniously proposed proposal, with a great balance between shapes and colors, all in expressionism.
