Bernward - Sans-Titre 1 - 2023

An artist committed to the complexity of life. Through the fusion of the human body and animals, the artist questions the boundaries between species, bodies, and nature. He suggests that humankind is no longer the epicenter, but shares its existence with the animal, the plant, the decorative; all become interdependent. He possesses this desire to rewrite myths and restore to the female or male body a role in symbolic narratives, where it is often an object rather than a subject. In his Artwork, collages, fragments, and superimposed textures evoke a fragmented yet reconstructed identity, a hybrid of references and emotions. To reject fixed identities and better embrace plurality, contradiction, transformation... Sometimes, between beauty and chaos, fine lines and scratches, Olivier Bernard conveys an "awareness" of contemporary divisions... The artist defends the values of freedom, metamorphosis, and emancipation against prevailing narratives. His commitment is both existential and symbolic: he presents an alternative way of life, of existing in the world, with awareness and sensitivity. Bernward was born in 1970 in Paris and currently lives and Artworks in Brussels, Belgium… Untitled 1 - 110x70 cm - Gouache and Charcoal on Steinbach Paper (Delivered rolled in a tube) - 2023
