A spontaneous, realistic, large-format portrait from the MUGOTES collection, painted in acrylic on canvas by Chus Galiano. He holds a degree in Arts from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya and a Master's degree in Art: Idea and Production from the University of Seville. THE COLLECTION ============== MUGOTES is a tribute to worthy historical figures, remembered not only for their talents but also for their unique mustaches. The collection consists of twenty-four colorful, large-format portraits, painted with acrylic pigments on double-width stretcher bars. These unique and diverse mustachioed figures, such as Albert Einstein, Marlon Brando, "Cantinflas," Mario Bros., Jimmy Hendrix, Chaplin, and Prince, among others, are refreshed in our memories with the painter's distinctive pop style, especially in this figurative series of popular veneration. The style of this limited collection is based on a sustained dialogue with color that erupts to the rhythm of house and funk through spontaneous and realistic lines, full of splashes and drips. BIGOTES opened in October 2020 at the Casa de Las Sirenas in Seville. The exhibition has also visited the towns of El Viso del Alcor (Seville) and Chipiona (Cádiz). THE AUTHOR ========= Chus Galiano is a Spanish artist born in Seville (1975), a multidisciplinary artist with a strong pictorial vocation. His Artworks have been exhibited in countries including Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, the Netherlands, Romania, Bulgaria, Russia, China, Japan, the USA, Brazil, Argentina, etc. (THE JOURNEYS OF A CREATOR). The paths and experiences that led him to this world of abstract art began unexpectedly. After years painting landscapes and figurative oil paintings, that moment was a ray of light, a spark of passion and enthusiasm, filled with thoughts and daydreams of expressing what chance, at times, flows through your mind with a sense of indifference. Motivation, sacrifice, and perseverance are necessary to achieve your own identity and allow you to visualize the unknown and profound inner world in order to transmit the gestural and informal magic onto the canvas, board, or paper. of a modus operandi that characterizes him. The creation of his Artworks allows him to communicate a style of influential sensations capable of attracting the viewer. My artistic journey began in the early 1980s with a strong inclination towards landscape painting and the use of oil paint, representing natural scenes with precision and sensitivity. This approach was focused on capturing the beauty of the environment through a figurative and technical language. Over time, I experienced an evolution in my style, moving away from realism to delve into abstract art. This change allowed me to free my creativity from formal limitations, exploring forms, colors, and textures that do not respond to a literal representation of the world, but rather to a more intimate and emotional reflection of my thoughts and perceptions. In abstraction, I found a freer and more personal medium to express what flows through my mind, allowing my emotions, ideas, and inner visions to take shape without restrictions. This transition marked a new stage in my Artwork, where gesture, spontaneity, and intuition became the protagonists. The content of this expression is the humble reflection of an abstract mind.
