Federico Tormo Monzó nació en Pinoso el 15 de abril de 1890 y falleció en Valencia el 12 de septiembre de 1971. Se trasladó de su patria chica a Valencia a la edad de 17 años, y allí fijó su residencia, teniendo como maestro a D. Ricardo Verde. Aunque ya en el año 1927 obtiene el primer premio de carteles anunciadores de la Feria de Julio, consiguiendo así mismo otros premios en Granada, sus primeros pasos en la ciudad del Turia fueron como dibujante en la sección deportiva del diario “Las Provincias”, entre los años 1931 y 1935, con series dedicadas a caricaturas de futbolistas y boxeadores de renombre, directivos de los clubes valencianos, periodistas, practicantes de otros deportes de moda, como las carreras de galgos. Destacaba por su destreza con el lápiz al tomar sus apuntes en los acontecimientos deportivos, que aparecieron publicados periódicamente. en ocasiones firmó sus dibujos con el seudónimo “Motor”, que aparece en algunas de sus caricaturas. Pero no solo cultivó el tema deportivo, ya que destacó también por sus dibujos relacionados con el arte taurino, caricaturizando a toreros de la talla de Marcial Lalanda, Félix Rodríguez, Vicente Barrera o Domingo Ortega. Personajes de la cultura valenciana, como músicos y literatos, también fueron retratados por Tormo Monzó con su particular trazo. Tras la Guerra Civil, el artista siguió dibujando, pero alternando el arte de la caricatura con el de la pintura, captando el paisaje de las ciudades en las que estuvo, como Granada, Bilbao y Zaragoza, además de Valencia. Destacan las innumerables exposiciones individuales que realizó a lo largo de su vida, tanto en la ciudad del Turia como en otros puntos del país, y tiene diversos cuadros repartidos por el extranjero, obrando uno de ellos en la colección particular de Winston Churchill. La línea del pintor es seguida por su único alumno, José Agustí García, que conoció su obra y compartió su estudio durante más de 25 años.

He received his artistic training at the La Massana School in Barcelona. From childhood, he was drawn to painting, an art he was able to develop thanks to the encouragement of the Brothers of La Salle. Josep Font Sellabona (Collsuspina, 1928 – Vic, Osona, 2010) was known as "The Troubadour of Catalonia" and was one of the pioneers of Catalan song, as he began performing songs in this language by Joaquín Soler Serrano, although he did not record them.
