Author: Francesc Cabanas Alibau (Barcelona, 1909-Sant Cugat 1985). Title: Gladiols. Description: oil on canvas made in 1974 by the Barcelona artist Francesc Cabanas Alibau. Measurements without frame 93x63 cm. Certificate of authenticity is attached. Artwork in good condition. Francesc Cabanas i Alibau (Barcelona 1909 – Sant Cugat 1985), artistically trained at the Academia Baixas in Barcelona, was a painter in the Fauvist-Impressionist-, Expressionist style, with a broad brushstroke and great gestural vitality. His theme, landscape and still lifes, is essentially his pictorial language. The strength of the color is very important, achieving the most expressive effects, along with the directionality of the stroke. He makes a material painting of great beauty, to manifest everything that surrounds man. He basically painted landscapes of Catalonia, Castile and Sant Cugat. His Artwork is permanently exhibited at the Cabanas de Sant Cugat Foundation. He held numerous individual and group exhibitions in different places throughout the state.
