Francesc Cabanas i Alibau (Barcelona, 1909 – Sant Cugat, 1985), artistically trained at the Baixas Academy in Barcelona, was a Fauvist-Impressionist-Expressionist painter, characterized by broad brushstrokes and great gestural vitality. His subject matter, landscapes and still lifes, is essentially his pictorial language. The power of color is very important, achieving the most expressive effects, along with the directionality of the brushstroke. He creates a textured painting of great beauty, to manifest all that surrounds humankind. He primarily painted landscapes of Catalonia, Castile, and Sant Cugat. His Artwork is on permanent display at the Cabanas Foundation in Sant Cugat. He held numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout Spain.
