Indeed, painting, but also the medium, its connection, and above all its material, are at the heart of his practice. The pictorial material then appears as an element of memory, proof of the passage and resurgence of time, a palimpsest of feeling, of plasticity. With each interpretation of reality, of a reading that disturbs him, of a piece of news, Franck Leviski can begin a new cycle. Not a series, not a sequence, but a cycle. Each painting is part of a cycle, and each cycle is a fragment of a global Artwork that is part of the artist's own time. Each cycle draws on the previous one and its predecessors. In this spirit, the cycles of "Vanities," "Masks," "Attempt to Exhaust Reality" followed, simultaneously, "Transfers" and "Anthropomorphic Forms," "Between Two," "We Are Definitely Not the Last," and then, still today, the "Chaos" cycle. All of these titles evoke important concepts for him that animate his Artwork: mutations, transition, transformation, and, of course, time linked to memory. All of this is intertwined in both his thought and his visual creation, creating a permanent and multifaceted exploration that reflects the temporal dimension of human life. Franck Leviski was born in 1969 in Périgueux. He studied at the Brive Academy of Fine Arts and later at the Bordeaux School of Fine Arts. He currently lives and Artworks in Périgueux.
