Author: J. Antony Redmile (London, 1940). Title: Grasshopper (ca. 1975). Description: sculpture-object in nickel silver and ebony with malachite inlays. Unique piece. On an ebony and mother-of-pearl base. Base measures 74x35x10 cm. Grasshopper measures 65x20x20 cm. Artwork in good condition. Anthony Redmile's design style has been defined as eccentric, opulent and over the top. House & Garden Britain once described him as "without a doubt Britain's most original, prolific and fantastic designer." Born in England in 1940, the post-war and contemporary designer is primarily known for his extravagant furniture design, fine art objects, and interior design work. His art objects include ostrich eggs adorned with malachite and silver, mirrors framed with horns, and animal shapes adorned with agate and seashells. Redmile's celebrity client list includes Rod Stewart, Jacqueline Onassis, Erté, and members of the British royal family, among others.
