Description: As if the horizon had slowly burned from within, this Artwork captures a moment suspended between light and matter. The warm mist of the sunset merges with the sea in a dance of liquid reflections, while the sky, still full of deep blue, surrenders to the golden glow that pervades it. The brushstroke is free, almost musical, and reveals a vision that does not seek to copy the world, but rather to translate its essential emotion. Javier Espigares is a self-taught artist who began his journey at the age of fourteen, among the ceramic brushes of master Miguel Ruiz, in Granada. The first time I held a paintbrush was not on a canvas or in the solitude of a studio. It was in a factory of clay and dreams, in the small town of Jun, in the shadow of Granada. There, in the factory of Miguel Ruiz, a ceramic sculptor and painter, it all began. There were no white canvases, no elegant easels. There were broken pots, chipped plates, forgotten seed pots, and on top of them, the still-warm clay awaiting a second life beneath our trembling hands. The brush I learned to love was humble: flat, with horsetail hair. Its bristles brushed the clay with the same tenderness as the wind caresses the slopes of the Granada plain. From then on, the tool became an extension of my own body: a bridge between what I dreamed of and what I couldn't yet express. My first brushstrokes were clumsy, yes, but determined. Speed was mandatory: clay doesn't wait; it dries mercilessly. Each line had to be drawn with a mixture of courage and intuition, with no room for regret. There I discovered something essential that would never leave me: that error is not an enemy, but a teacher in disguise. Every mistake on that rough pottery was an open door to new paths, to new ways of seeing. Those summers at Miguel Ruiz's factory were my first school without classrooms. They didn't teach me to copy what I saw, but to listen to what I felt. To let the color flow as memories flow in the deepest memory. Without knowing it, every stroke I made on those cracked pieces was a silent promise: one day I wouldn't paint on clay... I would paint on life itself. And so it was.
