The Career of the Painter Javier Espigares Javier Espigares is a self-taught artist whose relationship with color began in his childhood, when he discovered the transformative power of drawing as a way of understanding the world. His first formal experience with a paintbrush came at the Artworkshop of the sculptor and ceramist Miguel Ruiz, in Jun (Granada), where he painted on clay pots. That experience would forever mark his artistic sensibility: direct contact with materials, intuitive gestures, and respect for artisanal processes would become pillars of his Artwork. Over the years, Espigares has developed a solid and renowned career, with exhibitions and commissions in various European cities. His Artwork has been awarded on several occasions, especially in plein air painting competitions, where his mastery of color and his ability to capture the atmosphere of the moment are revealed with particular intensity. Although he is proficient in several techniques, watercolor has become one of his hallmarks: a medium that allows him to improvise, let the pigment flow, and construct images that seem to breathe light. At the same time, acrylic offers him the power of gesture and the chromatic intensity that characterize many of his most recent Artworks. His inspiration comes from urban and natural landscapes, places where light fragments and creates unexpected rhythms. Espigares doesn't just paint what he sees, but what he feels: each Artwork is an emotional territory, a dialogue between memory, color, and time. His series of luminous landscapes—vibrant forests, plazas emerging from shadows, fluid horizons—has become an intimate journey through his own visual history. He is currently Artworking on his autobiographical project, The Color of Memory, a book that chronicles his artistic and personal evolution, accompanied by a wide selection of Artworks that showcase his creative universe. Hand-signed by the artist in the lower left corner. Includes frame. A large-format Cubist composition featuring a grand piano, cello, violin, trumpet, French horn, and guitar, alongside scores by Beethoven and Chopin, on a checkered floor in white and gray. The artist breaks down the instruments into overlapping geometric planes of vibrant colors (ochres, golds, grays, and reds), in a pictorial homage to music and Synthetic Cubism.
