JEANNE MODIGLIANI (Niza, 1918 - París, 1984). “Composición”. Acrílico sobre cartulina adherido a lienzo. Firmado en el ángulo inferior derecho. Medidas: 52 x 75 cm; 57 x 79 cm (marco). Hija del aclamado pintor Amedeo Modigliani y de la también artista Jeanne Hébuterne, Jeanne Modigliani no conoció a sus progenitores: Amadeo murió el 24 de enero de 1920 cuando Jeanne contaba tan sólo con catorce meses y su madre, musa del pintor, se suicidó al cabo de unas horas. La niña fue adoptada por su tía paterna y se crió en Livorno, licenciándose en historia del arte en la Universidad de Florencia. De origen judío y nieta de un socialista, en 1939 huyó a París a causa de la persecución fascista y, tras la ocupación nazi, se unió a los maquis. Terminada la guerra, Jeanne Modigliani inició la búsqueda de la verdad sobre su padre. En 1952, con una beca del Centro Nacional de Investigación Científica, se embarcó, también, en una investigación sobre Van Gogh. Son precisamente las similitudes entre la vida del pintor holandés y la de su padre las que la hicieron volver a él, a Modigliani, a la que se dedicó por completo desde ese momento. Su constante interés por obtener el reconocimiento oficial del valor de la obra de su padre fue un gran éxito cuando, en 1981, en París, montó la exposición más completa de Modigliani: más de 250 obras entre pinturas, esculturas, gouaches y dibujos formaron parte de una muestra que aumentó, si cabe, el interés por el maestro. En 1983 fundó los Archives Légales Amedeo Modigliani, con objeto de clasificar y proteger la obra de Modigliani. Sin embargo, la vida de Jeanne Modigliani no se limitó a su labor documentalista, sino que heredó de su padre la maestría de los pinceles. Con una producción cercana al expresionismo abstracto, en ocasiones acercándose a la figuración, las composiciones de Jeanne Modigliani expresaron, con total sinceridad y libertad, los estados más profundos del alma. Desde las composiciones más dinámicas y espontáneas hasta las más sosegadas y apaciguadoras, Jeanne supo plasmar en sus obras su yo más íntimo y personal.

He graduated from the "Llotja" in Barcelona and Artworks as a professor of lithography at the Conservatory of Book Arts. He was also a drawing teacher at the French Lyceum. In 1983 he graduated in Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona. From the primary expressionism, he is adopting more and more an informal language, initiating a process of valuing the material that leads him to an expressionist informalism. His Artworks are found in different museums and collections in Europe and America.

His work is represented at the Bancaja Foundation (winner of the 2011 Bancaja National Award), and at the Mataró Museum, among other entities and private collections. He currently works with various musicians, mainly Toti Soler, Marc Parrot and Dídac Rocher, and is involved in various projects within jazz and experimental music. He has made several records with Lluís Llach, Duquende, Soma Planet, and has recorded music for various radio and television projects.
