  • Autumn of Tharrats

Joan Josep Tharrats. Girona, 1918 - Barcelona, 2001. His Artwork takes the landscape as its starting point, creating atmospheres that, with a spatial, gestural, and symbolic language, serve to project intimate interior spaces, evocative of all the sensations perceived in nature. He uses grattage and dripping, techniques characteristic of Informalism and Abstract Expressionism, as well as superimposed glazes. With a palette of Mediterranean colors, he blurs the boundaries between figuration and abstraction, between reality and fantasy, to create a dialogue in a liminal space where dichotomies coexist harmoniously, maintaining a balance between matter and spirit. He was awarded the Sant Jordi Prize in 1979.
