History and Context

This exceptional piece was the award originally presented to the legendary international clown Charlie Rivel (Josep Andreu i Lasserre).

The "Sol de Oro" (Golden Sun) was a distinction created by the Iberian Daily Sun newspaper, under the direction of Pedro Serra Bauzá, to honor personalities who projected Spain's image abroad.

The work is the result of Miró's collaboration with the master craftsmen of the Forteza jewelers in Mallorca. True to his style, Miró used his most iconic iconography: the Sun, a symbol of primordial energy, surrounding a stylized central figure.
