JOSÉ MARÍA ROSSELLÓ VIRGILI (Tarragona, 1950). “Print design- Juan Gris”, 1985. Acrylic on paper. Signed and titled. Measurements: 55.5 x 28 cm. Rosselló began his training at the Tarragona School of Art, and then completed his studies in Barcelona, at the Sant Jordi School of Fine Arts and the Massana School. His teachers were Magda Folch and Guillen Bergnes. He held his first exhibition in 1967 in Tarragona, in the Initiatives and Tourism Room. Between 1969 and 1983 he lived and Artworked in Sitges, and collaborated with the publications “Escrivim a les parets – Revista de les Arts”, “L’Eco de Sitges” and “El Món”. In 1983 he moved to Madrid to prepare the murals for the “Pascua Popular Flamenca” by Salvador Távora, Artworks that he finally finished in Rome. After a stay in Tangier Artworking for the Carmen Maceín Foundation, he returned to Catalonia in 1992. He held various exhibitions and made sets and figurines for plays. He has shown his Artwork throughout Catalonia, as well as Madrid, Bologna, The Hague, Zaragoza, Paris, New York, Rome, Seville, Switzerland, Tangier, Miami and Parma. It is represented in the Museums of Modern Art of Tarragona and Ceret, the Museum of Fine Arts of Bilbao, the Reina Sofía National Center, the National and Catalan Libraries, and the Georges Pompidou Center of Paris, among many others.
