Excellent artArtwork, elegantly framed. Oil on canvas, 66 x 54 cm, total 87 x 76 cm with frame. Acquired from the artist in Vic. José María Vila Cañellas (Vic, 1914 - Barcelona, March 23, 2001) was a Catalan painter and draftsman renowned for his Impressionist style. He trained at the Olot School of Fine Arts and was a student of artists such as Joan Colom, Iu Pascual, and Emili Bosch Roger. His artistic career took off in 1941 with a solo exhibition at the Sala Barcino in Barcelona. Throughout his career, he participated in numerous exhibitions, notably his exhibition at the Lamvart Gallery in Barcelona in 1996. Vila Cañellas received several awards, including the Third Medal at the National Fine Arts Exhibition in Madrid in 1948 for his Artwork "Vic Market," which is currently part of the collection of the Reina Sofía National Art Centre Museum. He was also awarded the Masriera Gold Medal in 1953 and the Llavaneras Landscape Competition Prize. His Artwork is characterized by landscapes and genre scenes, with an impressionistic technique that highlights the effects of light and water. His ability to capture the essence of nature and everyday life has earned him a prominent place in 20th-century Catalan art. In summary, José María Vila Cañellas was a Catalan painter who, through his impressionist style, left a significant mark on the artistic scene of his time, being recognized both during his lifetime and posthumously for his contribution to art.
