The Cathodic Goddess. Juan Arenas (2025)
Acrylic on panel
72 × 70 cm
Unique original Artwork
A monumental figure dominates the pictorial space while a group of smaller figures gravitate around it. The composition prompts reflection on new forms of contemporary worship and the transformation of desire in a society mediated by the image.
The monumentality of the main figure contrasts with the vulnerability of the secondary figures, establishing a tension between fascination, dependence, and resistance. The luminous halo that envelops the central body functions simultaneously as a sacred apparition and as a reference to the image-emitting devices that articulate much of contemporary experience.
Created using gestural and textural painting techniques, the Artwork is situated between expressionist figuration and contemporary symbolism.
