Description: This artwork belongs to the “Banquet” Series, created between 2016-2017, and is identified with the number 5. It is signed in the lower left corner, as well as signed and dated on the reverse. Work executed in mixed media on canvas, ready to hang. Includes a certificate of authenticity. The state of conservation of the painting is excellent.

Lluís Cots is a self-taught painter who was born and raised in an artistic family background—his father was a painter—so his artistic development began at a very early age. Later, in the late 1960s, he broadened his training through travels to major European cities: “You have to know the masters.”

In the mid-1970s, Cots began creating a body of work marked by the combination of various factors: the social reality in which he lived, the issues and situations affecting the world, his vital need to absorb knowledge, and his desire to freely express his reflections, emotions, and feelings. This gave shape to his Series, through which he expresses his experiences regarding different moments and circumstances facing the world and their impact on our lives. Some Series consist of 14 or 15 works, while others include 120 or more.

In 2016-2017, Cots worked on the “Banquet” Series, clearly expressing the challenges of human coexistence: a world for everyone, not just a few; human dignity and decency.

The eternal factors of space and time form the coordinates where this much-needed social structure should be established.
