ESTATUA ECUESTRE DEL REY RICARDO I DE INGLATERRA Estatua del rey Ricardo I de Inglaterra, Ricardo Corazón de León, fuera del Palacio de Westminster, las Casas del Parlamento, el London Fotografía de stock - Alamy Ricardo I de Inglaterra (n. Palacio de Beaumont, Oxford, de 1157-1199), conocido como Ricardo Corazón de León Durante su reinado, solo visitó Inglaterra en dos ocasiones: las correspondientes a sus dos coronaciones. En total, no llegaron a seis los meses que pisó su suelo como rey. Tomó parte en la Tercera Cruzada, con campañas en Sicilia y Chipre en el camino. A la vuelta de Tierra Santa cayó prisionero de Leopoldo V, duque de Austria. Sin embargo, también es conocido por haber construido el castillo Gaillard en Les Andelys, Normandía. Este castillo fue erigido entre 1196 y 1198 para detener al rey de Francia en su ruta hacia Rouen.
