LAS NIEVES EN SAN CRISTOBAL Es el país más pequeño del continente americano, tanto en tamaño como en población por lo que es considerado un micro estado. San Cristóbal y Nieves poseen una superficie de 261 kilómetros cuadrados17 (San Cristóbal 168 y Nieves 93) y una población de 54.961 habitantes. Su capital y ciudad más poblada es Basseterre, en San Cristóbal. Las dos islas están separadas por el estrecho de Narros, de 3 km. El pico más alto de las islas se encuentra en San Cristóbal, es el Monte Liamuiga con una altitud de 1156 m. La mayoría de la población en la isla son descendientes de los esclavos africanos subsaharianos. Las dos islas fueron el hogar de las primeras colonias británicas y francesas en el Caribe, por lo que también se ha titulado "La colonia madre de las Indias Occidentales".
