OLIVÉ CABRÉ, Ceferino (Reus, Tarragona, 1907 – Barcelona, 1995). “Still Life with Sardines”, 1974. Watercolor on paper, glued to board. Signed and dated in the lower right corner. Measurements: 50 x 65 cm; 67 x 82 cm (frame). An outstanding watercolourist, Ceferino Olivé began his training with the decorator painter Antoni Fuster. He then attended courses at the Reus Municipal School of Drawing, and in 1925 he settled in Barcelona, where he worked as a painter, decorator and set designer, while continuing his training as a disciple of Félix Mestres at La Lonja in Barcelona. In 1931 he joined the Association of Watercolourists of Catalonia, intending to revitalize this discipline. He participated in collective exhibitions and appeared, alone, in 1940, in the Pictòria room in Barcelona. He was awarded the Fortuny Medal, the National Watercolour Prize, the first medal at the London International Show and at the National Railway Exhibition. It is represented in Spanish collections and in various collections in Biarritz, Geneva, New York, London and Moscow, among other cities.
