Dimensions without frame: 64 x 84 cm. Plate dimensions: 49 x 60 cm. The Artwork was printed in 1965 in a limited edition of 300 copies and published by Atelier Crommelynck, Paris. The paper bears the publisher's blind stamp, "Atelier Crommelynck, Paris," in the lower left margin. The paper also bears the Arches watermark in the lower margin. This etching printed by Aldo Crommelynck is based on Picasso's 1924 oil painting "Le Verre d'Absinthe." Note: Richard Solomon says of the printmaker Aldo Crommelynck: "He [Crommelynck] entered into a particularly close Artworking relationship with Picasso. In 1963, Picasso decided he needed a print shop near his home, Notre-Dame-de-Vie, in Mougins. Picasso would create etchings on copper plates supplied by Crommelynck in the morning, and Crommelynck would return with proofs in the afternoon. Once the proofs were finished, the plates went to Crommelynck's studio in Paris for printing. Crommelynck printed for Picasso for over twenty years and collaborated on most of his intaglio projects, such as the "60" and "156" series, culminating in 1968 with Picasso's "Suite 347." Condition: The Artwork is in generally good condition with minor imperfections in the paper. There are some stains on the back.
