Rafael Cuartielles, Barcelona 1932. "A la edad de 12 años se inicia en el mundo de la pintura instruido por Jacinto Oliver y otros artistas de la época. Posteriormente ingresa para estudiar pintura en la Acadèmia Baixas, una de las instituciones barcelonesas más importantes de la postguerra. Más tarde ingresa en la Escuela de Artes y Oficios de Barcelona (La Llotja). En 1962 obtiene una beca de la Diputación de Barcelona para completar sus estudios artísticos en París. Allí se mueve por los entornos más vanguardistas de la época...".

The artist breaks down the instruments into overlapping geometric planes of vibrant colors (ochres, golds, grays, and reds), in a pictorial homage to music and Synthetic Cubism.
