  • Jorge “Coco” González Lohse: The Lovers (1994)

Jorge “Coco” González Lohse: Los Amantes (1994), frame support, Mixed media, 160 x 110, on canvas, excellent condition. Artwork description The Artwork The Lovers was part of the two-person exhibition “De Back Pica el Indio”, together with the artist Alejandro Quiroga (Galería Arte Actual, 1994). That same year the Artwork was part of the Chilean submission to the IV Cuenca-Ecuador Painting Biennial. In this piece it is possible to notice the plastic interests that appeared strongly in the 90s, particularly the tension between the thinking linked to new figuration and the trans-avant-garde. In a composition that contains painting, collage, graphics and textures, the Artwork reveals the pulse of the immediate and the desire to communicate a moment. Biogtrafía: Visual artist, curator, editor and cultural manager. Graduate in Plastic Arts with a mention in Painting at the University of Chile. Since 1988 he has developed numerous individual and two-person exhibitions, and has participated in more than 200 group exhibitions, submissions, biennials, residencies and competitions. He is also a founding member of different collective platforms. He has obtained scholarships such as Arte Actual, Amigos del Arte, among others. His Artworks are found in public and private collections in Chile and abroad. His Artwork investigates painting in its different formats, from which he reflects on personal questions about his artistic practice, while delving into relationships between everyday life, landscape and vernacular street images.
