Se adjunta certificado de autenticidad emitido por la Galeria d'art Peragón. ¿Quién fue el solitario George? Sergi Peragón dedicó este cuadro en 2012 a Solitario George, último superviviente macho de la especie Chelonoidis abingdoni de las tortugas gigantes que dan nombre al archipiélago de las Galápagos de Ecuador. George fue encontrado muerto en junio de 2012 en la isla en la que vivía desde hace años en un programa de cría en cautividad que no dio resultado. Su desaparición supuso la extinción de su especie. El cuerpo de la tortuga, cuya edad exacta se desconocía, aunque se estimaba que pasaba de los cien años, fue localizado sin vida cerca de su bebedero, por la Dirección del Parque Nacional Galápagos (DPNG). Solitario George era oriundo de la isla Pinta, la más septentrional del archipiélago, y fue rescatada en 1972 por un grupo de cazadores dedicados a erradicar las cabras, una especie introducida por el hombre que diezmó el hábitat y llevó a las tortugas gigantes de esa isla al borde de la extinción. A día de hoy se está intentando su clonación, lo cual sería un gran final para esta historia representada en este magnífico cuadro del artista Sergi Peragón.
