Artwork by Javier Montesol from the Olympic Village in Barcelona, dated 1995 and signed. Classic and recognizable palette used by Montsol with Mediterranean colors. Francisco Javier Ballester Guillén (Barcelona, December 1, 1952), known as Javier Montesol, is a Spanish cartoonist and painter.[1] He was one of the protagonists of the underground comics era of the 1970s and 1980s in Spain. He began as a comic book artist, participating in the creation of new Spanish comics magazines such as Star, Cairo, and El Víbora. In the 1980s, he became interested in painting and began selling in a new and revolutionary format, at the Supermercado del Arte, where only once a year, at Christmas, the art enthusiast and collector could purchase Artworks by well-known painters and artists at very good prices. In 1992, he decided to settle in Brittany, France, with his wife and four young children to dedicate himself exclusively to painting, exhibiting throughout Europe and the United States. In 2012, he returned to comics, publishing the graphic novel "SPEAK LOW," and in 2017, with the famous Prado Museum, he published his comic book album "IDILIO."
