Modest Sala (Badalona, 1951) is a painter and writer. He signs his works as “Walas”. Influenced by family tradition, he devoted himself to painting from the age of 18 in a self-taught way. His initial figurative style evolved into abstract expressionism and later into Informalism. Most of his works have an essential material component, which imprints a characteristic texture on his paintings. He has held national and international exhibitions: Principal Art Barcelona, AFF Art Fair, SIART, GMAC LA Bastille Paris, MARBART, Art Fair Cologne, Donostean Kursal, Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art, Hirochima Prefectural Art Museum, Art Beijing, Art Baho, Galeria EFE Serrano, Nou Mil.leni Gallery, Cervantes Gallery, ST-ART.11 Strasbourg, Aragon Gallery, Fundación Iberoamericana Universidades. He has published Demoniacal (LegaxArt, 2014) , Materiae vs Vitae (LEgaxArt2015) and Are we humans vermin? (LegaxArt,2017)

    Alberto Rafols-Casamada (Barcelona, 1923 – 2009), was a poet and painter. Rafols-Casamada began his studies in architecture but abandoned them to dedicate himself fully to the visual arts, thanks to the support of his father, Albert Ràfols i Cullerés. The painter was awarded the National Prize for Plastic Arts by the Ministry of Culture in 1980, the National Prize for Visual Arts of Catalonia in 2003 and was an honorary academic of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando.
